In April 2007, a former public bath in the centre of Wolfsburg was turned into a large cultural centre. Hallenbad- Kultur am Schachtweg has since developed a fresh and unusual programme for the city. In just a short time, the centre has become a solid institution that Wolfsburg wouldn’t be without.
The cinema at Hallenbad is an art house cinema. Current productions as well as cinema classics or documentaries and themed film series are all on the programme. On Thursday, we always show a film in the original language with German subtitles. In summer, we host the Open Air Cinema in the beer garden, and once a year we show a silent film in the old swimming pool. The cinema seats 60 and has the latest technology.
Hidden away deep in the cellar, in the catacombs of the former swimming pool, the Sauna-Klub has become a meeting place for fans of great music. Popular DJs play great music from every style going from Wednesday to Saturday. Local and international bands also regularly occupy the guest spot at the Sauna Club.
At Hallenbad, children aged from 6 to 12 years have their own open area. At the Spielbutze, in the afternoons from Tuesday to Friday, parents can leave their children to take part in the constantly changing, exciting programme, free of charge and without prior booking.
